This creamy, warming beverage is designed to ground you and signal to your body that it’s time to rest. Based on traditional Ayurvedic remedies, it combines naturally relaxing ingredients to help you drift off into a peaceful slumber.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes

Servings: 1 large mug

INGREDIENTS

  • Milk: 1.5 cups of your preferred milk (oat milk, almond milk, or dairy milk all work beautifully)

  • Turmeric: 1 tsp of ground turmeric (or 1 inch of fresh, finely grated turmeric root)

  • Ginger: 1/2 tsp of ground ginger (or 1/2 inch of fresh, finely grated ginger root)

  • Cinnamon: 1 large cinnamon stick (or 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon)

  • Black Pepper: A generous pinch (this activates the turmeric)

  • Honey: 1–2 tsp (or maple syrup), to taste

  • Coconut Oil (optional): 1/2 tsp (adds creaminess and helps absorption)

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Combine: In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, add your milk and the optional coconut oil.

  2. Add Spices: Whisk in the turmeric, ginger, black pepper, and add the cinnamon stick.

  3. Simmer: Gently heat the milk for 3–5 minutes. Do not let it boil. Boiling can ruin the delicate flavors and reduce the beneficial properties. Maintain a low simmer, whisking frequently, until the milk is fragrant and a deep golden color.

  4. Sweeten: Remove the saucepan from the heat. Whisk in your honey or maple syrup to taste.

  5. Serve: Carefully pour the spiced milk through a fine-mesh sieve (if using fresh grated roots) into your favorite, cozy mug. If you used a cinnamon stick, you can leave it in for extra aroma.

  6. Enjoy: Find your quiet space and sip slowly while warm.
