What is World Cancer Day?
World Cancer Day is a global event that aims to raise awareness of cancer and the impact it has on those who live with it. Observed annually on February 4, World Cancer Day actively promotes the early detection, prevention, and effective treatment of cancer.
The main aim of the event (organised by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC)) is to drastically reduce the number of people who die from cancer around the world each year. More importantly than ever, given the global Covid pandemic, millions of people will have missed diagnosis, treatments, and worsened their prognosis as a result of not being able to see their practitioners.
The theme for World Cancer Day 2022 is “I Am and I Will.” A direct challenge to misconceptions about cancer, organisers hope that “I Am and I Will” will serve as a message of hope not just for people living with cancer, but their families, friends, and loved ones too.
Early diagnosis is key
More than one third of cancer cases can be prevented. Another third can be cured if detected early and treated properly. At The London House of Wellbeing, we offer a Prostate Screening Test for men who may be worried about prostate cancer.
If you are a man over the age of 50, we would recommend booking yourself in for a quick and easy test that could indicate whether you were at risk of this disease. We also welcome anyone worried about any type of cancer to come in and talk with one of our experienced pharmacists who can advise you on next steps.
How can we help you?
Our mission is preventative healthcare, and the earlier you are seen, the better the outcome for you. Please get in touch through our website for further information on how to book yourself in. Or give us a call - we look forward to seeing you.
